For decades, we’ve heard about how computers are going to take our jobs. Today, the conversation has switched to how artificial intelligence is going to take our jobs. However, AI isn’t so much of a threat as it is an opportunity – a big one! It’s a career path you should consider. AI jobs are on the rise and there are countless positions companies are looking to fill.
AI Career Opportunities Are on the Rise
If what is happening in the U.S. job market is any indication what will happen with Canadian organizations, AI jobs are growing by leaps and bounds. According to CompTIA, jobs in tech rose by 63% between January and September of 2018.
In terms of specific positions, the survey found:
- Blockchain positions were up 423 percent
- Artificial intelligence jobs were up 149 percent
- Robotics jobs were up 23 percent
AI Still in Its Infancy
One of the main reasons AI jobs are so appealing, outside of the sheer volume of positions, is that AI is still in its infancy. Many companies are still figuring out how to use it or using it at a very basic level. AI is being used in all types of industries for many different functions and purposes. It’s used for manufacturing, decision making, research, data analysis, and more.
Accord to an Optimized Workforce study, about one-third of workers are already exposed to some form of AI, and the need for employees to have AI experience is only going to increase in the years to come.
With the industry in a growth phase, professionals in technology, business, marketing, and many industries have the opportunity to get in now and be an early adopter to find their path within AI before this profession becomes saturated.
