POSITION: Modern Workplace IT Engineer

REPORTS TO: Director of IT
  
Position Summary:
Modern Workplace Engineer designs, implements, and manages technologies that enable a modern, often cloud-based, workplace, focusing on Microsoft solutions like Intune, Azure, and Office 365, while ensuring user experience and security.
  
Key Responsibilities and Skills:

Microsoft Technologies:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 solutions including hybrid environment (Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online, OneDrive), Azure Active Directory, On Prem Active Directory, Intune, and Configuration Manager (SCCM) is crucial.
Endpoint Management:
  • Managing and supporting Windows 10/11-based devices, including deployment, patching, application management, and security.
  
Cloud Migration and Modernization:
  • Assisting in transitioning to cloud-based services and modernizing their workplace infrastructure.
Security:
  • Implementing and enforcing security policies, protecting data, and mitigating risks in the modern workplace environment.
  
Troubleshooting and Support:
  • Providing technical support and resolving issues related to modern workplace technologies.
Automation and Scripting:
  • Using scripting and automation tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  
Documentation and Communication:
  • Creating and maintaining documentation, policies, and procedures for modern workplace technologies.
  
Collaboration:
  • Working with other IT team members, stakeholders, and end-users to deliver solutions and ensure a positive user experience.
Project Management:
  • Participating in planning, design, and delivery of IT initiatives related to the modern workplace.
  
Continuous Improvement:
  • Identifying areas for improvement and driving initiatives to enhance the quality and effectiveness of workplace technologies.

Education / Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or 2 years of relevant college coursework required. Additional experience may substitute for education.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience
  
Skills & Knowledge:   

Desktop Management:
  • o Deep understanding of desktop management tools and techniques.
Endpoint Security:
  • o Knowledge of endpoint security aspects and best practices.
System Administration:
  • o Strong Microsoft system administration and troubleshooting skills.
  • o VMWare knowledge is an asset.
  • o Network architecture and configurations is an asset.
General:
  • Excellent verbal and written abilities

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure

Standard Hours of Work
  • Common work schedule is Monday through Friday – 8:30am to 5:00pm
  • Working off hours on site or remotely required
