Our client, Stikeman Elliott, is seeking an experienced and results-driven, fully Bilingual (English/French) National Director of Communications & Brand to lead the firm’s communications, brand, and digital marketing initiatives across multiple regions. This key role will focus on maintaining a cohesive and compelling brand strategy for the firm that resonates with clients, firm members, and the legal community, and seeks to enhance the firm’s market position, growth, and overall success. The National Director of Communications & Brand is the most senior Marketing role at Stikeman; one that enhances the firm’s brand presence, supports local offices’ lawyer business development, and oversees marketing technology, data and creative assets.
  
The National Director of Communications & Brand will work closely with leadership, practice groups, and business development teams to develop and execute communication and brand strategies that align with the firm’s national and regional objectives, enhancing visibility and driving new business opportunities.

REQUIREMENTS OF ROLE:
• Relationship Building: Establish and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with lawyers, practice group leaders, and business development professionals. Work closely with these stakeholders to support their needs and initiatives.
• People Leadership: Demonstrate exceptional people leadership skills by fostering a positive and productive work environment. Utilize effective communication, set clear expectations, and encourage collaboration among team members.
• Law Firm Environment Understanding: Possess a deep understanding of the business law firm environment, including its practices, functions, and business model. Navigate and thrive within the distinct culture of a law firm.
• Collaboration with Leadership: Collaborate with leadership stakeholders to develop and implement brand and communications initiatives that align with the firm's strategic goals.
• Organizational Skills: Exhibit high levels of organization and the ability to prioritize and execute projects and objectives effectively. Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and performance metrics to measure effectiveness. Manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred) or Law Degree.
• Bilingual written and spoken (French and English) given the clientele, mandates, and international scope of the firm.
• 8+ years of marketing experience, with a strong background in enhancing reputation and client relationships, preferably within the legal or professional services industry.
• Experience in communications or public relations, including in a leadership position.
• Experience in building comprehensive communications plans, including drafting and editing.
• Proven experience in leading bilingual communication and brand campaigns and executing across multiple regions.
• Strong understanding of the legal industry, with experience in client acquisition and brand positioning in both English- and French-speaking markets.
• Expertise in digital marketing, including SEO, SEM, social media strategy, and content creation / experience overseeing a company's website, digital content, and social media accounts.
• Proficient in using marketing analytics tools (Google Analytics, CRM systems, email marketing platforms).
• Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams and fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.
• Strategic thinking with a focus on results and measurable outcomes.
• Strong project management skills, able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Experience in managing marketing budgets and external vendor relationships.
