Recruiting in Vancouver

As much as Vancouver looks and feels like a big city it still has the characteristics of a smaller market when you’re recruiting. With fewer head offices here, for example, candidates have a challenge with upward mobility and need to be wider-minded when our headhunters pitch them new positions. For companies in industries that are primarily based elsewhere (e.g. financial services), there aren’t as many competitor companies to recruit from. Often that means recruiting from other markets using our Canada-wide network and selling the lifestyle and organization.

Candidates are, of course, more interested in health and wellness in Vancouver than elsewhere so yearly contributions to gym memberships and/or time to spend outside go a long way. However, it’s also one of the most expensive markets to live in so compensation is also more critical than other markets.
